Educational Outreach Projects — VSP Info for Members

Chapter Outreach at Public Events: Chapter Booth

Sponsor: Varies, depending on event

Description: Staff the Chapter’s Booth at public events to promote the Texas Master Naturalist Program and the Coastal Prairie Chapter, in particular.    Good opportunity to promote the next class and recruit new members. Usually involves display boards that are prepared in advance featuring a natural resources theme, and distribution of printed materials.    Sometimes includes planned activities.
Examples of venues, but not all-inclusive:
Fulshear Farmers Market
Earth Day at Cross Creek and other venues (April)
In addition, volunteers may be needed to help staff a Sponsor’s booth (such as Texas Parks & Wildlife Department) at public events.
# of Volunteers Needed: Usually 2-3 at a time, but may have shifts involving more people for an event.  Co-ordinators are needed for each event.

Supplies Needed: Depending on the venue, may include clothes and gear appropriate for weather, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, drinking water

Reporting:  One person in the TMNCPC who was in attendance at an outreach event should complete the Coastal Prairie Outreach Form and submit it to the Chapter Advisor and the V SP Director within 7 days of the event.

Weekend Walks @Seabourne Creek Nature Park (SCNP)

Sponsor: Texas Master Naturalist Coastal Prairie Chapter
TMNCPC Contact:  VSP Director or as otherwise indicated on Calendar
Status: By appointment only
Time: The 4th Saturday of the month from 10 am to noon
Location: Seabourne Creek Nature Park, 3831 State Highway 36, Rosenberg, TX 77471
Description:  Lead nature walks at the park.  New volunteers welcome.  A co-ordinator for these events is needed.

# of Volunteers Needed: As many as wish to participate.
Supplies Needed: none
Difficulty Rating:  Easy, slow walking on level ground required
Maximum VSP hours: Time spent.

4th of July

Status: Active
Time: Date varies
Location: Seabourne Creek Nature Park, 3831 State Highway 36, Rosenberg, TX 77471
Description:  Organize horse-drawn wagons and the TMNCPC booth
