Monument Hill State Historic Site workday

June 20 @ 7:30 am - 10:30 am

VMS opportunity: Monument Hill State HIstoric Site

Please come to Monument Hill in La Grange for a productive work day, Friday, June  20, 2025 at 7:30 a.m.

Hello, TMN Buddies! Let’s bring in the Summer with a workday at Monument Hill (address 414 State Loop 92, La Grange Texas 78945).

We will remove invasives (mostly nandina, chinaberry and ligustrum), and some dead cedars on the Nature Trail.

We also are starting to re-work the signage on the Trail (ear-marking plants for new signs, and moving other signs to better specimen displays).   Daniel Lewis has been a tremendous actor in this project, and he will be there to further assist.  So, whether or not you are familiar with the treasure we have on the Monument Hill Trail, this is a great opportunity to learn while we work!

To beat the heat (first day of Summer, after all!), we start early at 7:30 a.m.  We should be done by 10:30.  We will be shaded most of the time, but there will be some sunny spots to work in.

Please bring tools (lobbers, gloves, trowels, small saws, trimmers); protective items (hat, sunscreen, repellant), and of course WATER!!

Thanks for your volunteering!  Please call if you have any questions, Karen Woods, TMN Monument Hill Project Chair

281.682.2810

P.S,  If any of you are chain-saw trained, please bring your chainsaw.  There are a few dead cedars that will need cutting with one.  Thanks!
