VMS opportunity: BISD Outdoor Learning Projects
Brenham ISD Outdoors is looking for volunteers for our 2019/2020 programs! These programs are designed to engage kids in a series of short (15 minute), fun activities while helping students broaden their understanding of the outdoors, stewardship of the Earth, and life cycles in Nature. Volunteers will act as helpers, no particular expertise necessary, just enthusiasm for being with kids in the outdoors. You can choose your “station” or be a floater. Here are the 6 stations: Project Feederwatch (bird observations), Journaling (age-appropriate and season-appropriate Nature observations), Storytime (reading a book and discussing with kids), Stretching & Breathing, Movement Challenge, and Critter Connection (introduction to critters in our environment).

Interested in getting kids moving and teaching them about the outdoors? Cubs in Nature is a series of nature-based programs for 3rd and 4th-grade students (8-10 year-olds). These 15-minute lessons will get kids moving and encourage students to be curious about the world they live in.
For more details or to volunteer, please contact TMN-GLC project leader Lori Buffum. This program is presented at three different elementary schools on six consecutive Fridays in Fall Semester and six consecutive Fridays in Spring Semesteror so there are LOTS of opportunities for volunteers to help. You are encouraged to come to as many sessions as you can but we welcome help at any session.
