VMS opportunity: AT: TX Waters Certification Training
Many people are familiar with the water cycle, but far fewer are familiar with the “Urban Water Cycle”. The human population globally and within Texas is urbanizing, and our streams and rivers are often significantly influenced by return flows of water from cities, and by stormwater runoff from urban areas. What kinds of things go down our drains that might not be removed by wastewater treatment plants? Do these things have an impact on aquatic organisms? We’ll discuss these questions, and we’ll also go on a virtual “Water Drop” tour that the City of Waco uses to engage students in first-hand learning about our local water supply, how water is treated before and after human use, and where it goes when it leaves our city.
