Dr. Humberto Perotto of Texas A&M University will share insights on landscape ecology, spatial analysis, invasive species and drones.
Join the Gideon Lincecum Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists for our January 2025 Chapter Meeting on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Winedale Historical Center in Round Top, Texas.
Dr. Humberto Perotto, associate professor at Texas A&M University, will present on the topic of Landscapes, Management and Drones. Dr. Perotto joined the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management in 2023. His research includes the analysis of the spatial and temporal dynamics of invasive plant species in rangelands. Additionally, he seeks to improve the understanding of how processes such as human activities and grazing behavior interact with spatial patterns in vegetation, soils and land use, consequently affecting wildlife habitat and ecosystem function. Dr. Perotto’s work includes the use of drones to assess vegetation cover, spatial structure, forage mass estimation and wildlife aerial surveys.
Chapter meeting business will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by Dr. Perotto’s presentation at 10:00 a.m.
