We will be manning our table at the NAPA store at McNeil Bridge in Round Rock beginning on the evening of April 4, 2014, and every Friday evening thereafter until the end of September. The initial times listed are from 7 to 8:30 p.m., but these might require adjustment if the bats change their pattern of egress. It is initially best to get there and set up at least 30 minutes before dusk.
A sign-up has been created at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0A4BACA722AA8-batinterpretation to accommodate three members to visit with the public and hand out information sheets about the Mexican free-tailed bat. But bear in mind there is really no maximum number who might volunteer. We just want to be sure there are at least two adults for security purposes.
Ray Wahrenbrock (rswahrenbrock@suddenlink.net) is our project leader this year. There are three bat boxes of materials which can be passed around among members before each Friday evening.
If you have never been trained in operating our bat station, that can be accomplished on any Friday evening by an experienced member; training takes no more than 30 minutes (one-half hour of AT) and the rest of the time is approved volunteer service.
Come join us for a fun evening!
