Williamson County’s Day of Caring – Berry Springs

August 20, 2014 by Mary Ann Melton

Once again we will be gathering and supporting United Way of Williamson County’s ” Day of Caring” by continuing to develop Berry Springs Nature Trail on Friday Sept. 26th 8:30am-noon.

We will be working on the 1/3 of a mile loop and the Native Plant Garden. We will meet @ 8:30am at the Trail Head located off of IH 35 N access road. We will be removing limbs and invasive plants, planting wildflower seeds and cleaning the native plant garden as well as other projects. Specific duties will be assigned when you sign up.

Wear appropriate clothing ie. closed toed shoes, long pants, work gloves, hat, suncreen, insect repellent etc.. Bring water bottle, hand pruning and weeding tools. Remember you are in Mother Natures home and there are inherent risks. Be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Directions to the trail head: Coming from the South on IH35 exit 265 which is the exit for SH130. Go up to the stop sign and continue driving north after both stop signs. Stay on the access road. You will go over an overpass and see the concrete trail on your right. Immediately after the concrete wall take a right onto a paved road and then another right onto a gravel road. There will be cones marking the road to turn onto. The gate entrance will be open. Take a right and park underneath the overpass. The trail head is just a little bit past the parking area to the west.

FYI: There are no restrooms @ the trail head. We will take breaks to go to the park restrooms via the park trails.
