Work Day At Granger Lake: Transplanting Grasses

January 14, 2015 by glennkleinert

The CENTEX Chapter NPAT will be holding a work day at Granger Lake on January 19, starting at noon.  We will plant Little Bluestem at the prairie replication site.  The plants were collected this past summer from a construction zone along IH 35 near Temple.  If conditions are to wet for planting, we will focus on clearing brush from the rainwater collection system and marking trails.  Volunteers should bring work gloves, work shoes, a shovel if you have one, water and a snack.  Meet below the Granger Dam at the Blackland Prairie Replication Site.

Directions  driving from Georgetown:  Take FM 29 East to the intersection of Hwy 95.  Turn right (South) and go approximately 1/2 mile to 1331 in Circleville.  Turn left (East) and continue to the dam.
