The Travis Audubon Society conducts their Hornsby Bend Bird Observation Bird Survey (HBBO) on the second Saturday of each month from 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., and from 4 p.m. until dark. The HBBO Bird Survey is open to all levels of birders interested in intensive monitoring. This is not a field trip. In the morning teams cover different areas of The Hornsby Bend Facility, and they count numbers of all birds seen. They meet at 11:00 a.m. to do a tally of birds counted. The afternoon session involves looking for birds missed during the morning session. Birders meet at the Center for Environmental Research, 2210 FM 973, Austin, Texas 78725. This is at the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant. For additional information about the survey go to www.hornsbybend.org or contact coordinator@hornsbybend.org
