Discovery Well Cave Preserve Workdays

April 24, 2015 by glennkleinert

The Discovery Well Cave Preserve is 108 acres of land, with a number of caves, which has been set aside for protection of endangered species.  Plans involve widening and improving existing trails and creation of new trails.  This is a new project and the work is just beginning.  Work days will be Saturday May 2, and May 9, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  Bring work gloves, water and a snack.  Also, if you have them, bring the following work tools; hand saws, pruners, picks and shovels.  Wear sturdy shoes or boots, and work clothes.  Please contact Dale Morrison, Project Leader, for additional information, questions and additional driving directions, if needed.  He can be contacted by telephone at 512-629-3345.  The Cave Conservancy, which oversees the preserve, can be contacted at 512-258-4737.

Directions:  Go South on 183 to Anderson Mill Road.  Turn west and proceed to Zeppelin.  Turn east and proceed to Waterhole and turn north.  Proceed on Waterhole to Rachel Ridge.  The preserve is located at The Ranch at Rachel Ridge at Cypress Park.
