BCNWR Workday (Knapweed Removal) !! Update!!

May 4, 2015 by glennkleinert

Those of you who have volunteered, be aware!  The terrain will be steep and up and down as the knapweed grows on steep rocky cliffs.  If you are not up to this type work and have volunteered, do not feel bad about deciding not to participate.

This workday involves The first work day for Knapweed removal is scheduled for May 19th from 7:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.  Bring tools, if you have them and wear sunscreen, insect repellant and wear heavy field clothes.  Also bring snacks and water.

Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge (BCNWR) is scheduling  workdays, to concentrate on the removal of Knapweed.   Work will be conducted during the weeks of May 18th, June 8th, and July 6 th.    Volunteers will only be needed one day in each of those weeks, and each outing will only last a few hours.  Preferably work will be conducted in the morning hours to take advantage of the cooler weather.  If you can help with this project, and to firm up the schedule, contact Cindy Fronk at [email protected], or Scott Rowan at [email protected].  Bring weeding tools, water, gloves and wear sturdy work clothes.

BCNWR is located at 24518 FM 1431, Marble Falls, Texas 78654
