Berry Springs will hold its annual “Day of Service” on Monday January 18th beginning at 8:30 am until noon. Volunteers should gather at the Nature Trail trailhead located off the IH 35 Service Road just north of exit #265. The access road to the trail entrance gate will have cones and a special event sign marking where you should turn. Work will include beautification of the native plant garden, removal of brush, spreading of trails materials (mulch and some gravel), and the removal of invasive plants.
Bring with you a hand weeding tool, loppers, hand pruners, rake and a sharp shooter or hand spade to be used to dig up the invasives. Although some tools will be provided, there are not enough for everyone. Your tools should be labeled with your name. Dress appropriately for the weather. Wear layers. Bring a water bottle, snacks, work gloves, sunscreen, hat and anything else you may need to have on site. If you are highly allergic to insect stings or bites please do not sign up. There are inherent risks of thorny plants, poison ivy, insects, etc. Take precautions and be aware of your environment.
There are no restrooms at the Nature Trail so make arrangements prior to arriving. Park restrooms are available, some ways away.
There is no rain date for this event.
You need to register and the week of the event you will receive an email stating where you will be working.
