Balcones Canyonlands NWR Headquarters Assistance

April 12, 2017 by vickizardiackas

In April we’ll need coverage for the Visitor Center

You can opt to work 1/2 days or full days (8:00am-4:30pm)
We are in need of the following shifts: Tuesday PM, Thursday AM & Friday ALL DAY
and prefer a commitment of 3 months. But we can be flexible;)

Here’s a brief description of duties:
Visitor Center Receptionist:  will assist refuge with general office, receptionist and small visitor center services.

Examples of Duties:

  1. Answer Phones answering questions or directing calls
  2. Greet and answer guest’s questions regarding the refuge
  3. Collect and distribute mail
  4. Make copies as needed (Refuge maps, etc.)
  5. Create or update Excel spreadsheets
  6. Create or update Word documents
  7. Assist with filing
  8. Assist with Environmental Education Program materials
  9. Assist with the maintenance of the headquarters’ interpretive gardens
  10. Manage upkeep of exhibits

Public Use Area Maintenance: Will clean the vault toilets, pick up trash and refill trail maps on Monday & Thursday every week at Doeskin, Warbler Vista and ShinOak. This will require a continued commitment and a defensive driving certificate to take government vehicles.

We do have a few other needs…if you are interested in helping with the cowbird program or mowing just give us a call to chat about it.

If any interest you, please reply with your availability and we’ll schedule an interview.
