Garey Park Bio Blitz

June 10, 2019 by kateknight

Come out to Garey Park to participate in our first BioBlitz on June 14 in support of the Parks for Pollinators campaign. Join volunteers and staff in chronicling different species of pollinators at Garey Park.

A BioBlitz is a citizen-science effort to chronicle as many species as possible within a designated location and time frame. We do this through a phone (or computer) application called iNaturalist. Participating in a BioBlitz is a great way to enhance the connectivity you feel toward the land – the data you produce is used for research and conservation efforts worldwide. Participating in a BioBlitz is also a great way to connect with people who share the same interests as you!

Please check-in at the gatehouse upon arrival to the park. There will be no fee to participate in the event, and park entry will be waived for all BioBlitz participants. After the event is over, you are invited to join us for light refreshments and celebrations of fun finds.

*We looking for a few people who are familiar with iNaturalist and can help us teach it to small groups*
