Event Series Event Series: Texas Waters Specialist Training

Texas Waters Specialist Training

Saturday, March 29th, 8:30am-11:30am (In person at W.G. Jones State Forest)

The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. (TWG), in collaboration with Heartwood Chapter Texas Master Naturalists (TMN) and the WG Jones State Forest’s Education Program, presents training classes to achieve Certification as a Texas Waters Specialist, a program of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). These classes and other activities are open to Adults, and Students in grades 9 through 12 in the Region, and membership is not required in any of the sponsor organizations to participate.

ADULTS, age 18 and up (who are NOT Master Naturalists) should complete this form to receive notifications about classes and related activities, and will be directed how to become registered with TPWD. Watch for a follow up email with more information about signing up with TPWD.

TEXAS MASTER NATURALISTS should complete this form to receive notifications about pre-approved classes and related activities. TMNs will NOT need to register with TPWD, and will report training and volunteer hours through their Chapter’s VMS portal.

STUDENTS in grades 9 through 12, not yet age 18, should complete this form only. You will receive notifications about classes and activities related to certification, but will NOT need to sign up with TPWD.

You will be provided with the Texas Waters curriculum guide, have opportunities to attend in-person “water labs” based on the guide, and engage in hands-on activities to meet the certification requirement of 8 hours training. This program is Pre-Approved by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and Jones State Forest is a Texas Aquatic Science Certified Field Site for the program!

Annual TWS Re-Certification is achieved through volunteering for water-related activities. By completing this form you are assured of receiving notices about volunteering opportunities related to achieving re-certification.

Spring 2025 In-Person classes will ALL be held 8:30 to 11:30am in the Classroom Building at WG Jones State Forest, 1328 FM 1488 | Conroe, 77384.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Completion of this form assures you will receive invitations to attend, event and activity reminders, and any updates.
This training is FREE of charge, however space is limited to 25 participants for each in-person training event. Early registration is suggested.

This AT opportunity is available to all Heartwood members.  It also counts toward Texas Waters Certification for those who are certifying.
