The Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) has launched a special ANFT Guide Training, the Sassafras Cohort, which invites conservation leaders to join together in community in weaving this healing relational Nature and Forest Therapy practice into the framework of conservation and stewardship, and in support of healing both people and the land.
- The intent of the Sassafras Cohort (April 2 -October 2, 2022), is to train a diverse array of conservation leaders (urban, community and national forest sectors, parks and recreation, conservation educators, community engagement specialists, landscape architects, researchers, etc.), in Forest Therapy/Immersion.
- Specifically, the cohort is designed to synergize ways in which to incorporate traditional and novel Nature and Forest Therapy (NFT) practices into projects, programs and policies surrounding forest health/human health relationships, stewardship and conservation.
- The Sassafras Cohort will serve as an international model to build a coalition of conservation leaders in tune with the power of health and nature relationships and nature-informed conservation solutions.
- This opportunity is intentionally designed to build a conservation-focused community of ANFT Certified Guides, who are professional conservation leaders trained in ANFT practices, and have the professional standing to truly integrate these practices with traditional conservation implementation at federal, state and local levels.
- Please review the following link which states the time commitment involved in the pursuit of ANFT Guide certification, which includes 2.5 hrs. each Saturday for the 6 month training period, as well as a variety of tasks, projects and guided NFT walks associated with certification. In addition, a 4-day in-person immersion will be required for full certification.
Because ANFT is offering a discounted rate of $2495 for conservation leader participation, a $500 down payment will be required to hold a position in the cohort, and tuition must be paid in full one month prior to the course’s end date (October 2, 2022).
We recommend that candidates pay a portion of the ANFT Guide training tuition to create personal investment in the certification process, even if sponsored by agencies, municipalities or organizations. All selected candidates will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement and a contract stating agreement to full course completion.
For more information, or to apply for this special ANFT Guide Sassafras Cohort, please visit the following training link and also refer to the attached Forest Therapy Guide Training Sassafras Cohort flier. Spaces are limited, so please respond with your interest as soon as possible. Feel free to share this opportunity with your forestry/conservation sector networks.
We look forward to continued advancement of this relational Forest Therapy practice in support of your work in diverse community engagement, conservation and stewardship.
