Redbud tree seed pods are ready to harvest. The seed pods have dried out and turned brown. Volunteers can collect the seeds and drop them off at the Environmental Services Department office located at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381 (located off Research Forest) or bring them to a chapter meeting. Please put Allen Selmer’s name on the bag of seeds, or ask for Ann Hall or Teri MacArthur to leave them. All will assure the seeds get put to use.
Here are a few areas in The Woodlands that have redbud trees:
- Rob Fleming park – the pond area shaded walk area
- Town Green Park along the east pathway between the pathway and Pavilion
- Lake Paloma Trail – the trees are along the pathway
Volunteers will also be needed to put the collected seeds into pots to get them growing, then to plant them in the ground. The same kind of project will be undertaken for other species of trees as their seeds become available.
If you need directions, call the Environmental Services office at 281.210-3800 and ask for any of the contact names above.
