When: Tues. April 25 and half day Wed. April 26, 2023
Where: Texas 4-H Conference Center, an outdoor camp on Lake Brownwood
Cost: Free of charge for TMN members
Please join many of our Texas Parks and Wildlife employees and learn more about our agency, first hand – specifically about hunting (fishing) & conservation efforts, in a way that helps you better communicate the conservation message mission through your volunteer activities. You also can learn more, personally, about outdoor opportunities available to you through TPWD. It is called “Hunting for Conservation” brought to you by the award-winning, national, Conservation Leaders for Tomorrow (CLfT) Program. You and/or your fellow TMN members who would like to learn about this topic, are invited to register.
This workshop is being provided FREE of CHARGE to Texas Master Naturalists, requiring you to simply register (see LINK below) and make it to the workshop and back. Your 1-2 nights lodging and meals will be paid for by TPWD. You can opt to show up early on Monday evening, April 24th thru Wednesday afternoon (2 nights lodging) or early on the 25th (one night lodging – Tuesday night). Expect dormitory-style lodging; or hotel-style rooms if bringing an attending spouse. You also can choose to stay offsite on your own, such as at nearby Brownwood Lake State Park.
TPWD provides this workshop to staff and community partners as a professional development opportunity intended to help attendees better understand why hunting is important to conservation efforts. National CLfT staff and instructors as well as some of our very own TPWD Hunter Education staff will lead the 1 ½ day workshop. All coursework and activities are designed to benefit individuals with little to no hunting experience and limited outdoor knowledge and skills. As a TPWD employee or Media Partner, this course will help provide a deeper understanding of our mission and the stewardship of natural resources.
All participants will complete a pre- and post-workshop survey to help us evaluate the program, participant experience, and improvement of future workshops. It’s our hope that staff, and our partners, will be able to attend and enjoy this workshop as we strive to maintain and enhance our strong outdoor and conservation heritage in the Lone Star State.
