Going Green Sustainability Lecture

October 27, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. for the next Going Green Sustainability Lecture: S.T.O.P. Litter – Study, Track, remOve and Prevent on Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 pm via Zoom. Learn about the new Texas Litter Database created in partnership by Keep Texas Beautiful, HARC, and BlackCat GIS with funding from the Garver Black Hilyard Family Foundation. Going GREEN is a free lecture series provided to the public. Membership is not required to attend.

Topic
Ever wonder where trash and litter come from? Keep Texas Beautiful works on finding that answer every day. One of the methods used is the Study, Track, remOve and Prevent survey method, gathering data on types and abundance of litter. S.T.O.P. projects collect trash larger than a cigarette butt, then sort, count, and catalog items. Findings are reported to the Texas Litter Database (txlitter.org) used by scientists for research. Hear the remarkable results from our first two years of surveys showing where (and what!) litter is a problem, and why targeted messaging based on the data can help reduce littering.
