Great Bat Bridge Survey Training

Please join Texas Parks and Wildlife for a training opportunity to participate in the Great Bat Bridge Survey Project! Volunteers will learn how to identify and monitor bridge roosts used by bats, contributing valuable data to support urban bat conservation. Date & Time: Sunday, December 7th at 9:30 AM – 1:30PM

Location: 14320 Garrett Road, Houston, TX

Open to volunteers, students, Texas Master Naturalists, and community members interested in urban wildlife. No prior experience necessary.

Training will include a classroom session covering bat ID basics, survey protocols, and safety tips, followed by a field session at a nearby bridge with an active bat roost. Once training is completed, volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in monthly surveys during the winter, spring, and summer months (on Sundays).

Training is limited to 50 TMNs in the Houston area (preferably in the Galveston Bay Area, Gulf Coast, Cradle of Texas, Coastal Prairie, & Heartwood chapters).
