Interpreting Early Texas Cisterns

In this webinar, we’ll share how you can use virtual interpretation to reveal more about the history of water use in Texas during the 19th century, before the advent of running water. The evidence of this history remains at our feet on public and private lands throughout Texas. You may have seen it already and wondered what it was. We’ll talk about that and how you can share it with more people from a distance to foster more cultural resource stewardship and better understanding of the history of land and water use in Texas.

About the speaker
Walt began working for state parks in 1999 at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site, following work for Tennessee State Parks and the National Park Service. He’s been the Regional Interpretive Specialist for the Houston Region of Texas State Parks since 2005. He holds a BA in Historic Preservation from Mary Washington College and an MA in American History from the University of Tennessee. He’s a Certified Interpretive Guide, Certified Interpretive Trainer, and Certified Heritage Interpreter with the National Association for Interpretation. He enjoys hiking, reading, woodworking, and making reproduction historic clothing.
