Invasive Species Eliminate Native Vegetation
Invasive species have no natural predators in the new environment so they grow quickly, block sunlight and overgrow their native host. Lost along the way is the food and shelter that native wildlife depends on.
Invasives Task Force volunteers work on removal of invasive species and make a big difference in whether our villages stay green with natives, or the invasives win.
Attend class Saturday, August 19, 2023, and learn how to identify invasive plants and pests of greatest concern in our area. Ashley Morgan-Olvera, from the Texas Invasive Species Insitute, will be our instructor.
After training, you can volunteer to remove invasive species from approved sites in The Woodlands Township.
Date: Saturday, August 19
Time: 8:30am to 2:30pm (break for light lunch, provided)
Location: The Woodlands Emergency Training Center, 16135 I-45 South, 77385
This event is presented by The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department and sponsored by The Texas Invasive Species Institute at Sam Houston State University, Woodlands Water Agency, The Woodlands GREEN, HEB, Howard Hughes Corporation, ChevronPhillipsChemical, and Alspaugh’s Ace Hardware.
