Learn About the CCC and Buffalo Soldier Program While Volunteering at SHSP

We are a week away from a great event that I have been looking forward to. Not only a chance to talk about the Civilian Conservation Corps, but a chance to host the Buffalo Soldier Program. I have been at this park for almost 5 years, and we have not had the opportunity to host them out here until now. And I could still use volunteers.

I will have 4 tables set up with:

All these have photos, information and even some hands-on recreations.

There is also a table set up with games that the men played and an activity to fold paper hats and build a wooden block bridge. And weather permitting, I will have croquet outside.

Master Naturalist, regarding hours, I have been told that this doesn’t count to project hours, however, can be an Advance Training opportunity. And you can still submit hours to TPWD to help us as all our volunteers should.

The event is 10am-2pm, Saturday 2/22, but please come an hour early and I can help you with all the information you want/need. I will be away at a conference next week but checking email periodically.

Joining me in sharing some amazing history of Texas. Or at least, share this with anyone you can and join us. I have enclosed the flyer, help us get the word out.
