The quarterly webinar series for the chapter features professionals, research, and initiatives relevant to our chapter. Registration is open to both TCTWS members and nonmembers. Speaker – Robert Perez

Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture Coordinator, Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture/American Bird Conservancy
Robert is an accomplished natural resource professional with over 30 years of experience. He retired a little over a year ago after a 28-year career with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department where he served in various roles within the Wildlife Division, mostly with upland game birds. Robert led strategic planning efforts, and contributed to the design and implementation of numerous initiatives and plans, including the first and second iterations of the National Bobwhite Quail Initiative. He currently leads the Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture under the direction of the OPJV Management Board and as an employee of the American Bird Conservancy. He manages the highly successful Grassland Restoration Incentive Program (GRIP), which has provided over $2 million in incentive payments to private landowners to improve habitat for priority grassland birds on over 300 projects and 110,000 acres in Texas and Oklahoma since 2013. Robert works with staff, management board members, and partners to develop additional programs and advance policies to address regional bird conservation objectives identified through OPJV partner planning activities and guided by science-based international, national and state wildlife conservation plans. His strengths include public speaking, communication, team building and a firm grasp of grassland and savanna ecosystems. Robert has authored, co-authored, and edited dozens of natural resource publications and products and has a keen eye for detail. Robert received his B.S. and M.S. from Texas State University and currently lives in La Vernia, a little town southeast of San Antonio. When he’s not on the road, he enjoys bird watching, hiking and camping with family and friends.
