Propagation Station at W. G. Jones State Forest

December 13 @ 8:00 am 11:00 am

Pollinators for Texas Grant from HEB

Our Heartwood Chapter was awarded one of sixteen 2025 HEB Pollinators for Texas Grants to restore the Propagation Station at W. G. Jones State Forest! The restoration of the station will allow for the growth of native seedlings and the propagation of native plants to sustain our existing pollinator gardens. Enhancing and supplementing the existing native gardens will ensure year-round availability of nectar and pollen sources, supporting both adult and larval stages of bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, and flies. The gardens will offer essential “safe spaces” for nesting and overwintering, helping sustain pollinator populations throughout their life cycles.

The project will begin with clearing the base area, leveling and smoothing the land, and determining irrigation and electrical needs followed by laying new weed barrier material and updating the irrigation system. To accomplish these tasks, volunteers are needed for the following upcoming workdays:

  • Friday, November 7 from 4-7 pm
  • Saturday, November 8 from 8-11 am
  • Friday, December 12 from 4-7 pm
  • Saturday, December 13 from 8-11 am

Please email [email protected] if you are willing and able to participate in any of these workdays.

VMS: Be sure to put “Pollinators for Texas” in the volunteer description.
Hours spent designing the project should be put under Chapter Admin/Project Management.
