The Iris Connection at Mercer

Christy Jones, Mercer’s Education Director, and retired Horticulturist, Jeff Heilers, presents discussion on the history of Irises in the garden and conservation work of the Species Preservation Project to save native Texas Iris which are dwindling due to wetland habitat reduction. After the presentation, participants will take a walking tour to view irises in several areas of the gardens, including Storey Lake and the new Iris Bog. Meet inside the Mercer Visitor Center.
