Heartwood Nursery Volunteer Workday at Jones Forest
Date: March 8th
Time: 1:00 PM-4:00 PM
Location: W.G. Jones State Forest, 1328 FM 1488, Conroe, TX 77384
Meeting Point: Northside parking area near the Texas A&M Forest Service – Conroe District Office and Classroom
Purpose: Join us for a hands-on volunteer day dedicated to revitalizing and enhancing the Jones State Forest Native Plant Nursery and Propagation Station. This effort is an HEB Pollinators for Texas Grant Project, which aims to create a space where native plants and trees can be grown and later donated or distributed throughout the region. These plants will help establish and sustain pollinator gardens across our communities, supporting biodiversity and environmental health.

What We’ll Do:
- Construct three wooden pine work tables (12 ft x 3 ft x 3.5 ft)
- Build three raised garden beds (20 ft x 3 ft x 2 ft)
- Stain tables for weather protection
What’s Provided:
- All assembly materials
- Water, gloves, First-Aid kit
What to Bring:
- Weather appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes
- Reusable water bottle and personal gloves if you prefer
- Additional tools such as power drill (if available)
- A positive attitude and readiness to make an impact!
