Woodlands Environmental Services Waters Specialists Certification Opportunity

July 16, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Woodlands Township Environmental Services (ES) Department is offering a summer schedule to achieve certification and/or re-certification as Texas Waters Specialists. This program of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is provided locally through ES to fulfill all needed requirements. Adults, and students in grades 9 through 12, are invited to attend.  Students under age 18 will be certified directly by ES with status reported to TPWD.
ES Summer TWS Program Schedule:
The first summer water lab is June 4, from 1:30 to 4:30pm, at the Bear Branch Recreation Center5310 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands. It offers 3 hours toward initial Texas Waters Specialist certification requirements of 8 hours of training.
A second water lab will be on July 16, at the same location, from 1 to 4pm – with new elements offered so it is not a repeat.
REGISTRATION is required, if not already registered to become a Texas Waters Specialist.
To help achieve the hours needed for initial certification, Teri MacArthur will offer a series of 2-hour Online group discussions on the Texas Waters curriculum guideand may extend to include discussions on the Texas Aquatic Science text if enough interest. The discussion groups will be on the third Mondays of each month, starting on June 20, from 3 to 5pm. Once we reach September and school starts, the start time may move to 4 or 4:30pm if enough students are interested in the transition to the TAS text.
By registering for the Texas Waters Specialist certification program, you will be invited to join these discussions to accelerate completion of certification requirements.
