Heartwood Chapter Supports Conroe ISD Envirothon Program

May 6, 2016 by

Letter of thanks from Conroe ISD Academy of Science and Technology to the Heartwood Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists for our $2,500 donation to support the Envirothon program.

Dated April 26, 2016

Dear Board and Members,

We would like to thank you for your generous gift to the Academy of Science and Technology Envirothon Program. We took two teams to Texas State Envirothon competition the weekend of April 1st. Our sophomore team won 1st Place in the soil category. We were very proud of their performance as this was their first year to compete and they have yet to take Environmental Science. Our senior team took 1st Place in the oral presentation and 2nd Place in the over competition. We are very proud of their performance as well and they missed 1st Place by only seven points out of 700 possible points! Unfortunately, this means that we will not be attending the North American Envirothon this year.

Looking ahead to next year we are planning improvements in our program including the purchasing of much needed equipment and several field trips for our Envirothon teams. Your contribution will help to make these plans possible, and for that we are very grateful!

We would also like to thank Teri MacArthur for all of her assistance in the preparation of our Envirothon teams this year. We hope to continue to work with the Heartwood Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists in the coming years.

Sincerely,

Larry Walker and Linda Constanzo
