Kleb Woods Nature Center’s annual “Hummingbird Festival” was the most successful event yet for the Harris County facility located near Tomball. The event, held on September 10th, hosted over 1,075 registered visitors. A great variety of displays, demonstrations, and programs entertained families all day long.
The Heartwood Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists were out in force, helping with set-up, clean-up, and volunteering to staff a number of the featured activities. Over the past few years Heartwood volunteers have developed an interpretive nature walk and have offered guided walks to tell visitors about some of the resident plants and animals. The TMN volunteers included Liz Wilson, John Stacy, Gwen Lanning, Susan Beckemeier, Mark Beckemeier, Debbie Layer, Richard Kyle, Jay Rubens and Ursula Kyle.
