Spreading the Word about Diversity

May 25, 2021 by heartwoodpres

This year the diversity committee has been writing articles for the newsletter highlighting a specific topic of interest that relates to either a day or awareness month for that issue. So far, we have covered Black History Month, International Women’s Day, Diversity Month and Older American’s Month. Throughout the year, there are many awareness days and months to cover and the current committee does not feel that we can do them all justice, so we need your help.

Are you someone who belongs to one of the diverse groups listed?

Do you have a naturalist you admire who belongs to a diverse group?

Do you volunteer with community members belonging to a particular diverse group?

If you answered yes to the questions above, and would like to write about it for the newsletter, please get in touch with us at heartwooddiversity@gmail.com. Your article must be diversity related and must also link back to the work or values of the Master Naturalists.

We would also love to hear about any potential advanced training opportunities and volunteering opportunities that you may know about that helps us to learn more and reach out to the many diverse communities that our counties cover.

Some months may cover more than one diversity topic, so if we do not get round to publishing the article for that month, we will bank them up and publish them the following year when the awareness month comes back around.

If you would also like to help out with the committee, please email us at heartwooddiversity@gmail.com
