The interns worked at Mercer Botanic Gardens and with the Development, Research and Control/Mosquito Abatement Program (DRAC/MAP).
Education Interns: Jackie Ramirez (Univ. of Houston) and Samantha Norris (Texas A&M) led camps for kids at Mercer, developed Story Times and Teaching Backpacks.
Botany Interns: Colleen Powell (Sam Houston State University), Lauren Crain (Lone Star College-Kingwood), and Dominic Guarino (Klein Collins High School) presented their research on native or endangered plants.
DRAC/MAP Interns: Leeann Lara and Arielle Fike (both students in the Lone Star College-Montgomery Biotechnology Institute) presented their research with Assassin Mosquitos and their work to re-establish the research lab after the flood damage.
Congratulations to these hard-working students for their contributions to educate, preserve, and protect nature and the environment!
