The South Texas Chapter of Master Naturalists was established in 2002 at Corpus Christi. It encompasses three counties, Kenedy, Kleberg and Nueces counties. The membership has grown steadily and the small corps of dedicated and committed members has sustained it. A class of interns has recently completed training in 2017. Another class will begin August 2018.
Our chapter currently has approximately 50 members and volunteers. The knowledge and experience of each individual brings, when combined with the natural history as well as flora and fauna of Texas flora and fauna, makes a diverse group that is needed to conserve and preserve Texas’ natural resources. Furthermore, we all enjoy the natural beauty of Texas.
We are supported by the Texas Cooperative Extension and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Our mission is to develop a corps or volunteers to provide education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within our communities.
