This training will teach you to find, recover, and document cold-stunned sea turtles.
All new and returning volunteers must attend one of the scheduled training sessions to participate in cold-stunned turtle activities. Please note that attendance at the spring nesting season training does not fulfill the requirements to become a cold stunning volunteer.
The training sessions will be via Microsoft Teams webinar.
The training is free and open to the public, current volunteers, and anyone interested in volunteering with the Padre Island National Seashore Division of Sea Turtle Science and Recovery. We ask that everyone sign up in advance to receive the webinar link. Please note that you will not receive the link immediately after signing up, but you should receive it about a week before your scheduled training date. If you do not receive the link a few days prior to the event, please let us know so we can resend it.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to participate. All volunteers must possess and be able to submit a copy of their driver’s license. We will provide all the volunteer forms and documents needed to participate after the training session.
