AT: Using Online Soil Mapping – Part 1

Using Online Soil Mapping, Part 1 of 2. Evening Zoom class, 6:30 – 8:30. Instructor – Jon Brandt

Part 2 will be held via Zoom on March 4, 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

Necessary background information that allows proper understanding of soil mapping: soil characteristics, soil mapping methods and parameters, and examination of free, online soil mapping tools for both desktop/laptop and mobile devices. Introduction to the backbone of soil information for the United States: the USDA’s SSURGO (soil survey geographic database). Students will be encouraged to try out those soil mapping resources over the following week, so in the following class we can cover any questions that come up while using the online applications.
