Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve Eco-Expert: Fire In The Sea, Bioluminescence in the Deep Sea
Advanced Training Opportunity: Come out to the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve for this month’s Eco-Expert, Dr. David A. McKee. Dr. McKee will present about deep-sea life, bioluminescence and writing of his book, a combination of scientific reading and beautiful artistic representation of deep sea life. Marine biologist Henry Compton created an entire series of watercolor paintings based on his photographs during some of the first scientific collections of deep water species in the Gulf of Mexico. Dr. McKee has taken Compton’s work, discovered in cardboard boxes following his death in 2005 and written chapters on bioluminescence, life in the deep and life history information to complete a unique book titled “Fire in the Sea, Bioluminescence and Henry Compton’s Art of the Deep”.
