Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve Eco-Expert: Lessons from Hurricane Ike with John Metz

Advanced Training Opportunity: Come out to the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve for a movie screening and question and answer sessions with John Metz, National Weather Service.

Hurricane Ike was a late season surprise on the Texas Coast. It hit the upper Texas coast, Galveston and Bolivar Peninsula area and brought unimaginable damage.

The Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve will host a screening of a documentary created by KFDM Channel 6 of Beaumont Texas titled “Hurricane Ike, Wind and Surge in Southeast Texas.” The documentary focuses on the unique storm formation and how it caught so many off guard and has a message of preparedness for all of us.

John Metz, is the Warning Coordinating Meteorologist for the National Weather Service here in corpus Christ and an expert on weather and tropical storms. He will attend the viewing and be available for questions about hurricanes, predictions, etc.

• Class size limited to 24.

• This program is FREE of charge and open to individuals and families.

• Walk-ins are welcome on a first come first served basis.

• This program is for individuals and families with children ages 12 and older.
