Solar Eclipse Watching at Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve
Volunteer Opportunity! Volunteers are needed to help with a special event at Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve – Solar Eclipse watching event for families and people of all ages. Noon to 2 pm.
Background: Corpus will see a 57% block of the sun by the moon. This partial eclipse is very dangerous to try and watch so we’ll have lots of safe ways to view it and activities to talk about relevant connections of the moon to coastal environments, too.
Activities for this event are still being planned but will probably include three main stations:
1: A viewing area, with all the apparatus to safely watch the moon move over the sun, this area needs lots of help to just monitor and remind people to appropriately view the eclipse
2: Probably some sort of art project/craft about the eclipse
3: A large group activity – on the hill – trying to demonstrate what is happening with the eclipse
4: An activity about moon effects on ocean tides – and how that effects Oso Bay.
