Advanced Training: Come out for the Native Plant Society of Texas July Meeting!
Saturday, July 22, 2017, 2:30 pm (note half-hour delay from usual time) at the Educational Center of the South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, 8545 South Staples, Corpus Christi, TX 78413. Carol Goolsby, Education Director at Quinta Mazatlan in McAllen (http://www.quintamazatlan.com/), will be presenting:Wildflower Design – This is a new presentation that takes a different approach to traditional wildflower presentations by showing 13 botanical strategies that different flowers use to give them their advantages, including petal forms, pistil & stamen design, coloration and patterns, composite structure, scent, oil, and others. During the presentation, over 70 wildflowers of South Texas are shown. Approx. 55 minutes. At the end of this talk, audience members can view flowers using mini-microscopes.Also, attendees can enjoy “Not Pretty Enough” – a 15-minute musical PowerPoint showing plants of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, many of which overlap into the Corpus Christi area.
