Join us on Monday afternoons to tend to the park or for occasional evening and weekend workdays. We pick up litter, trim overgrowth, remove invasive plants, plant native plants, socialize, botanize, and birdwatch. It's fun! Hours change with the seasons. The International Crane Foundation is holding its first annual Cleanup for the Cranes event this year in collaboration with CBBEP and Goose Island State Park. The event is meant to showcase UTMSI to residents of Port A and surrounding areas. This carnival-type event will include activities, live music, lab demos, and boat excursions. Our biggest volunteer event right now is the Trail of the Dead on November 2nd at 7pm to 11pm. We’re focusing on nighttime creatures that are normally deemed “scary” with the goal of educating the public about them; props, live animals, etc. are welcome to show off, to decrease the fear factor and garner respect instead....
