History of Port Aransas and Mustang Island

Mustang Island State Park is located within the city limits of Corpus Christi, Texas, on Mustang Island, the northern part of Padre Island separated by Packery Channel and previously natural passes. The state park offers Gulf of Mexico beach access, with or without vehicles and camping with RV sites and seasonal primitive camping on the beach. The park spans across TX 361 and includes the shoreline fronting Corpus Christi Bay. Ranger Eric Ehrlich offers a variety of interpretive programming for park visitors through the year. Eric can be reached via email Eric.Ehrlich@tpwd.texas.gov

Volunteer opportunities at MISP include beach clean-up and assisting with online and in-the-field interpretation including beach walks, dune walks, plant ID, children’s programs, star gazing, and kayaking. The Volunteers have recently equipped a designated shelter in the day-use area as an OUTDOOR CLASSROOM for sharing information with visitors.
