Geocache 1 – Ghost Ponies of Mustang Island (Location: the deck of the bathhouse).
Hint: under the deck – the meadow is behind you.
Wild horses once roamed this beach and island. They were the descendants of horses from the Spanish Explorers and Conquistadors from the 1500s. By 1900, all the wild horses were removed from the island. Today there are no wild horses on Mustang Island.
Take one pony to remember the horses that ran free in the meadow before you. Hold it in your hand and imagine it on the landscape.
