🌱 Upcoming Event: “Getting to Your Roots: The Soil Food Web”

Join the Friends of LLELA on Saturday, January 17, 2026, for our annual Native Landscape Seminar hosted at Thrive in Lewisville. This year’s theme, “Getting to Your Roots: The Soil Food Web,” features keynote speaker Jeff Lowenfels, a renowned leader in the organic gardening movement and author of the bestselling Teaming With… book series. Jeff will join us via Zoom to discuss soil health, the role of bacteria, and practical ways home gardeners can improve plant health.+2

The day also features a lineup of local experts:

  • John Sackett (USDA): Presenting “The Basics of Dirt” based on twenty years of soil survey experience.
  • Dr. Vanessa Corrisher-Olson (Texas A&M AgriLife): Discussing soil testing and fertility.
  • Dr. Jane Duke (Restoration Ecologist): Sharing soil food web principles applied at a North Texas nature center.

Attendance Options: REGISTRATION LINK

  • Option A: In-Person (Full Day)
    • Time: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
    • Location: Lewisville Thrive Recreation Center, Dogwood Room.
    • Cost: $30 (includes breakfast coffee and pastries; lunch available from food trucks).
  • Option B: Online (Jeff Lowenfels Only)
    • Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.
    • Cost: $20 (includes a Zoom link sent one week prior to the event).
