Join us on September 9th at 7 PM. Every drop has a journey—and in the Lavon watershed, that journey connects over 2.3 million people. The Lavon watershed story is one of scale, resilience, and shared responsibility. Spanning 768 square miles across Collin, Grayson, Fannin, and Hunt counties, the Lavon Lake watershed is far more than a topographic feature – healthy watersheds act as nature’s filtration system, reducing erosion and capturing sediment and contaminants before they reach our rivers and lakes. Maintaining healthy watersheds is vital for the protection of aquatic environments and the source waters that supply drinking water to our region. In this presentation, we’ll follow the “journey of a raindrop” through the Lavon watershed, exploring how land use, land cover, and water quality data come together to shape management decisions. You’ll hear how a diverse Partnership worked in 2017 to identify pollution sources and identified management measures to improve water quality.
