Teaching About Monarch Butterflies

A Train-the-Trainer program

Teaching About Monarch Butterflies equips individuals with the skills to deliver compelling, non-technology-based presentations about the Monarch butterfly’s life cycle and migration. This hands-on training uses only two posters, making it accessible and straightforward and delivered without technology. The program is ideal for Texas Master Naturalists, teachers, and nature enthusiasts.

The first part offers an in-depth look at the Monarch Butterfly migration and life cycle, their needs, and the importance of North Texas to this species. The second part shows how to condense that information into a very brief talk, perfect for outdoor spaces like school gardens, nurseries, cemeteries and information table events.

Participants learn to use Monarch Life Cycle and Monarch Migration posters for their presentations. This presentation method is particularly impactful at community and school events held during the spring and fall Monarch migrations in Texas.

Join us for this unique opportunity to not only enhance teaching skills but also foster a deeper appreciation for Monarch butterflies and their ecological importance. By participating, individuals can significantly contribute to Monarch conservation efforts in North Texas without the need to use advanced technology.

Presented By:   Carol Clark is the Monarch Watch Conservation Specialist, Chair of the Native Plant Society of Texas Bring Back the Monarchs to Texas committee, and a National Wildlife Federation Monarch Steward. Her blog may be found at  carolsworld.net.  Carol Clark will present this program via an online ZOOM webinar.

Hosted by: Texas Master Naturalist – Elm Fork Chapter

Note: The February 13, 2025, presentation is an encore repeat performance of Carol’s original January 21, 2025, presentation. Her January 21 presentation was a sell-out, so the February 13 event is a repeat presentation to accommodate our unfulfilled requests for Teaching About Monarch Butterflies training.

Registration:                Required.  Please register in advance of meeting via ZOOM.
