BPTMN Newsletter – August 13, 2025

08/13/2025 by mconnally

Hello Blackland Prairie Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists

Welcome to your monthly update from the Blackland Prairie Master Naturalists! Did you miss last night’s chapter business slides or Rick’s TREE-mendous talk? No worries, we’ve got you covered! Don’t miss the upcoming Deep Dive on our Members’ Native Gardens next Monday, August 18th!

Check out what our members have been up to! Past President, Tom Shackelford, reminisces with us about how he earned his 4,000 volunteer service hours award. Recent speaker Bryon Clark, celebrating 2,500 volunteer service hours, reminds us to find joy in our projects and Deanna Flanagan and Sue Kacines celebrate their first volunteer service hour milestone! Learn how to handle invasive hammerhead worms from Sam Kieschnick. See the fantastic community work happening at McKinney Green Gardens with Project Leaders Mary Abercrombie and Paulette Platko, and another wonderful update from Plano Parks Project Leader Jean Higgins. Find out how you can volunteer to read to preschoolers at the Heard Museum. We’re also excited about new initiatives like Paulette Platko’s Books & Blooms library and the progress at Monarch View Park, made possible by Project Leader Laura Kuwayama.
