BPTMN Newsletter – February 13, 2026

02/13/2026 by mconnally

Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️ Blackland Prairie Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists,

Love is in the air—and in the trees—this February as we dive into a season of discovery! 🦋 Whether you’re spending your Valentine’s weekend with the Great Backyard Bird Count 🐦‍⬛or revisiting the enchanting “white aliens” of our favorite Cooper’s Hawk family from John W. Garbutt, there is so much magic to observe when we slow down.

Our Blackland Prairie community is buzzing with energy, from Kim Muzquiz’s Class of 2025’s snowy goose adventures at Hagerman to the Blackland Prairie Chapter Grant Update from Lynda Delsol, with the Leadership Prep School – Majestic Garden Elementary – Monarch Butterfly Garden 🐝 where we’re watching our fall plantings brave the winter freezes.

Ready to get your hands dirty? You can become a Citizen Scientist with Crystal Flannery-Bachicha’s Texas Stream Team training or join Tina Burke’s Community Outreach crew for upcoming plant swaps and prairie nights. 🐞

Spring is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to share it with you! Join us on Wednesday, February 25th, at 7 PM CST for a Deep Dive with 🌱 Heather Fell and Katelyn Miller, presenting From Backyard to Blackland: Raising Natives for Restorations, online via Zoom. 🍄
