Deanna Flanagan achieved her 250 service hour milestone as a Master Naturalist, inspired by her mother’s dedication. She earned these hours by assisting the Class of 2025 and leading engaging field trips for first and third graders at the Holifield Outdoor Learning Center.

Our Tribe’s Fortune 500 Hours – Pamela Flaming, Class of 2015

I have worked on a variety of service projects, including Naturology kid’s camp at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, being a butterfly docent at Hagerman’s butterfly garden, and putting together a seminar for landowners on Wildlife Special Valuations and habitat improvement. Most recently, I have been working with Imelda Everett on introducing the HOME Program, which is aimed at helping homeowners and landowners to incorporate native landscaping into their home environments: anything from a container garden that attracts butterflies to improving habitat on larger properties.

Members Meredith Brown Brady and Nancy Riggs with the folks at the BPRC are “who” to thank for this back yard rescue of an Eastern screech owl.

Fellow BPTMN member and Plano resident Nancy Riggs, Class of 2021 recently became an unexpected wildlife rescuer when she found a soggy eastern screech owl owlet floundering in her backyard pool. Thanks to quick action and the help of the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center (BPRC), the young owl was safely transported, treated, and happily reunited with its family by another BPTMN member, Meredith Brown Brady, Class of 2024.
