Moth Night at Frisco’s Grand Park

Rick Travis, Class of 2018 – Our Blackland Prairie Chapter “Moth Squad” will join Play Frisco for the City Nature Challenge “Mothing” at the Grand Park event in Frisco on April 26 from 7:30 -10:30 p.m. A Mothing BioBlitz uses UV lights to attract and record nocturnal insects. It’s a “species snapshot” for that location and date, utilizing the iNaturalist app.

My Favorite Things through the Four Seasons: Winter

It was the first day of winter. It felt like winter but still looked like autumn. Christmas was a few days away and I knew with the forecast that it would feel like spring by the time I arrived at my parents. Like Irving Berlin in 1940 on that 80-degree Southern California winter’s day, I also dreamt of a white Christmas.

Mary Abercrombie, Class of 2022 – These guided tours will highlight Erwin Park’s spring blooms and the role of native plants in water filtration, wildlife support, and air quality improvement, while also emphasizing the importance of preserving our natural greenspaces. Laura will guide you in finding the joy of flies by taking a closer look at qualities across the vast diversity of the Diptera with an overview of dipteran life histories, feeding habits, beneficial behaviors, and essential fly family identification.
