Kim Muzquiz, 2025 Class Representative

Around 30 classmates and their family members reunited on January 10th at the Hagerman National Wildlife refuge. We kicked things off with a presentation by Dr. Wayne Meyer on the ecology at the refuge and learned quite a bit about what we may see as we hiked the trails.
We then broke up into three groups and set off on a treasure hunt themed hike on three different trails. The Snow Geese were definitely one of the highlights of the visit. While we didn’t spot the bald eagles, there were sightings of some Downy Woodpeckers and other birds.
We reconvened for a review of the treasure hunt results and a recap of what we all saw, and gave prizes to the winning team. It was close! Everyone had a great time.
