If you live in North Texas, you should visit the Clymer Meadow.
Clymer Meadow Preserve: A 1,475-acre preserve that contains some of the largest and most diverse remnants of the Blackland Prairie, a rare and endangered landscape in North America.
- Prairie Diversity and Conservation: The preserve supports a variety of plant and animal species, as well as wetland and riparian habitats that provide water quality benefits. TNC uses land management techniques like prescribed fire, sustainable grazing, and invasive species removal to enhance biodiversity and restore native vegetation.
- Research and Education: The preserve is a key site for scientific and educational activities, such as studying the ecology and value of prairies, conducting inventories of invertebrates, and hosting field trips for students and teachers.
- Visitation and Events: The preserve is not open to the public except for scheduled volunteer workdays and special events throughout the year, such as wildflower tours and guided hikes.
An appointment is required for visits outside of these organized events.
